About us
Well hello there!
I’m Elinor, chief maker, photographer, fabric chooser, tea drinker, colour lover and head of everything here at Biddy and Bear.
I named the shop after my oldest two girls (who are the middle two of my four children), as they inspired me after such disappointment shopping for them on the high street. So much of what I found was dull, poor quality, or very very pink - I have redheads, and pink really doesn't suit them! I source beautiful, striking and unusual, great quality fabrics that will survive wash after wash, and hope you love them as much as I do.
I choose fabrics and styles that I would dress my own children in or would gift to friends. I'm keen to avoid fast fashion and reduce waste - our clothes are great for passing on to siblings and friends, allowing you to buy less by buying better.
I'm a bit of a magpie and only buy what I love, so the styles can sometimes look a little eclectic ... but I'm sure there's something here for everyone, all made to a high standard, in quality fabrics, here in my attic sewing room in Yorkshire. Many designs are now exclusive colourways, so unique as well as beautiful.
Come and be social on Facebook and Instagram for more updates. Please send me a message here via the website if you need a hand choosing a style or for sizing advice.
Much love!
